Prototypes To Change The Way We Drive

Prototypes are a necessary step in the transition between making a reality out of a dream of new technology. Of course, building prototypes is generally costly, depending on the machine being created, but an unavoidable step that can demonstrate how life will change once a new product is available for use. This requires a bankroll that can support the creation of such prototypes in the interest of furthering the reaches of science. Many times, however, the necessary cost is worth the investment. This is exactly the attitude the U.S. Department of Energy has adapted as it has offered to give the Delphi Team funding to help them lower the costs of their prototype phases. The Delphi Team is currently working on projects that will ultimately lower the costs of hybrid vehicles. The Delphi group has been selected to help invent a new model of inverter which would allow users to have a powerful inverter that would run half of the size and cost of current inverters on the market. This would mean that motorists could be enjoying a whole new league of hybrid electric vehicles, known as HEVs, and the so-called, "plug-in," hybrids, known as PHEVs. The findings will also have an effect on fuel cell vehicles in the long term, referred to as FCVs. This investment may come as welcomed news to a country suffering from a steady price increase at the pump and a somewhat shaky economy. The idea that by funding the prototype program from Delphi we may have cars that won't cost an arm and a leg to fill up is good news to all our ears.
