All About Manufacturing

Today there are a lot of products that are still manufactured for companies.  Some of the larger employers in the manufacturing area are in the automotive, computer and electronic industries.  The manufacturing sector of the economy employs a lot of people today, however that number is slowly shrinking over time.  

In the computer and electronic industry, a lot of components are made at different locations for use in your computer and other electronic equipment.  All of these parts are assembled into one type of computer at a central location.  This is one of the biggest employers in the manufacturing area today.  

A good portion of the manufacturing sector is no longer located in the United States as labor is much cheaper in other parts of the world.  Most of the workers in this industry are employed in factories today.  Very few people in the manufacturing industry work in the sales area.

Another large employer in manufacturing industry is the automotive industry.  Years ago, there used to be a lot car manufacturing plants here in the United States, but most of those have been shut down as well.  Due to the large number of parts in a vehicle, building a car requires a lot of equipment. A good portion of the workers in the automotive industry are union workers and are paid quite well.  However, there are not a lot of people that want to do this type of work today, as it is quite difficult and very labor intensive.
